52 Blue Animatic

Overview

Based off of the essay “52 Blue” in Make it Scream, Make Burn by Leslie Jamison (2019), I create my own interpretation of her messaging in the form of a one-minute, short, animatic-style “film”.

The story includes the whale as a more surreal and abstract representation of wiping away these perceptions that the humans have. Each scene takes a familiar/mundane human situation and pairs it with a text that progressively addresses many of the points I made earlier. The last scene is a culmination of these somber scenes where it flips the perspective.
